If you are looking for a highly effective tooth replacement, consider the use of dental crowns. Through the use of dental crowns, you can protect a tooth by applying a wonderful restoration that protects a tooth completely. Dental crowns are designed to cap a tooth on all sides down to the gum line for added support. Not like that, dental crowns can also improve the look of damaged teeth.

Dental crowns are known for their durability, as they are designed and crafted for each individual’s oral health care needs. If you need a tooth covered with a reliable dental crown, it can provide decades of support to not only enhance the tooth but also enhance the look of your smile. Through the use of a dental crown, weak or damaged teeth, or even teeth that have been shattered into bits can be effectively protected. Dental crowns can even be used on previous restorations such as implants or bridges as an added layer of support. For children who are at a high risk of suffering tooth decay, having dental crowns placed on vulnerable teeth can provide an added layer of protection. Dental crowns can even be used in situations to hold together fillings and damaged teeth.

While it’s certainly unfortunate, there are times when a massive blow to the face can carry so much force that it severs the periodontal ligaments and potentially shatters the tooth enamel. When a tooth is knocked out in this fashion, the damage is often so extensive that your Royse City Dental Care dentist has no other option than to extract the tooth and suture the gums.

Once your gums have completely healed, we can replace the knocked-out tooth with a dental implant in Royse City, Texas.

Before the implant can be successfully installed in your mouth, we will need to assess the remaining bone structure in that part of your mouth. In many cases, the trauma of a knocked-out tooth can compromise the bone structure. In a situation like this, we might recommend that you have a bone graft installed to restore sufficient bone structure to successfully anchor a dental implant.

To install the titanium abutment, an oral surgeon will make an incision in your gums. Then, a small hole will be drilled directly into the bone. The titanium abutment will be screwed into place and a hard, plastic, temporary crown will be cemented over the top to protect it.

In time, the titanium implant will naturally integrate into the surrounding bone tissues in a process known as osseointegration. Once this has been achieved, your dentist, Dr. Edmon R. Hutchison, can fit you for a crown that will fully replace the knocked-out tooth for many years to come.

If one of your teeth has been knocked out, you should call Royse City Dental Care at 972-636-2417 to have it treated.

Tooth enamel is designed by nature to be strong and durable enough to handle biting, chewing and grinding hard foods. Unfortunately, there are still times when an accident or oral injury can actually break, fracture or chip a tooth. So long as the internal structures of the tooth are healthy, Dr. Edmon R. Hutchison can often repair the broken tooth by replacing the enamel layer with a crown.

This is essentially a replica tooth made from either porcelain, gold or a base metal alloy. It usually takes two separate appointments to fully install a crown.

During your first appointment Dr. Edmon R. Hutchison will use a drill to remove the tooth enamel and form an abutment. This will later serve to anchor the crown in your mouth. Dr. Edmon R. Hutchison will then make an impression of the area, which will be sent to a dental lab where your new crown is made to fit your teeth perfectly.

At the end of the first appointment, Dr. Edmon R. Hutchison will secure a temporary cap over the abutment. It’s important to keep in mind that the temporary crown is not a fully functional tooth, its primary purpose is to protect the abutment.

Our office will call you back for the second appointment after the dental lab has completed your crown. The temporary crown will be carefully removed and your new permanent crown will be cemented in place.

If you have a broken, fractured, or otherwise damaged tooth, you should not delay in calling Royse City Dental Care in Royse City, Texas at 972-636-2417 to have it treated and restored.
